Halloween Treats in a Pillow Box

Hello CottageCutz friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit with us today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

It's new release time!!! We have new dies in the online store. Our Christmas Part 2 release with 36 new designs is available and ready for shipment. There are 3 different bundles available. The individual dies are on sale for 30% off.  It's only for a limited time so don't delay.  You are going to love all the whimsical designs that are available in this release. There is something for everyone.

And we still have the Halloween release with 22 new designs. They are on a 30% off sale as well. So many fun and spooky designs that are perfect for your Halloween card-making, Scrapbooking or making treat boxes. The CottageCutz dies are so versatile, and the DT has been showing samples of all these different ways of crafting.

Today I am featuring a Halloween pillow box. A friend asked if I could make a treat holder to send into her son's 2nd grade class for a Halloween party. I used an older die -the Pillow Box Plus to create the treat holder. It's retired and available at 72% off retail. It could be used for so many occasions not just Halloween.

Design Steps:

I started by cutting the pillow box. I used various Halloween themed designer paper from my stash. The die cuts in one piece with the fold lines scored for you. You simply fold, tape and the box is done and ready for decorating. I used Scor-tape to make sure the box stays together after adding the treat.
On this photo I turned the designer paper over so you can see the fold lines the die creates.
This photo shows where I applied the Scor-tape to secure the box. I only taped one of the flaps so my friend can fill these with the treats.
Next, I cut images from the Potions Bottles in cardstock for my first box. I thought these bottles would definitely appeal to the boys in the class. I found some cork paper in my class and used that for the bottle corks.
I stamped several different sentiments. This one is on a label that is part of the Pillow Box die. Some of the sentiments I stamped on labels that were part of a Halloween collection kit from my stash.
Now I am ready for the assembly of the boxes. This is the first box design. I used one of the potions bottles, bat designer paper and a stamped trick or treat phrase.
This is the 2nd box design. For this one I used the Cute Ghosts die and the Stitched Alphabet die.
The 3rd design is using the Potions Bottles and a sentiment stamped on one of the labels from my stash.
The 4th design is using the Web & Halloween Wreath dies. I just used the spider and bats from this die.
Well, that's it for me for this post. I hope I have given you some ideas for ways to use these new Halloween dies. There is still time to order and receive these dies to make your projects for Halloween.
See you next Saturday when it will be back to Christmas.

Coloring Easter eggs

Hi, Janja here!

Coloring Easter eggs is a ritual in the spring. There are so many fun ways to decorate Easter eggs. Let's see how Bunny did it.

Supplies:
- CottageCutz dies: Egg Painting Bunny, Spring MeadowStitched Alphabet, Miss Petunia Bunny, Just Hatched Chick, Pillow Box Plus, Stitched Oval Set
- white card base: 5.3 x 5.3" (13,5 x 13,5 cm), folded
- white cardstock
- silver cardstock
- Distress inks: Spiced Marmalade, Festive Berries, Aged Mahogany, Broken China, Mowed Lawn, Tea Dye
- Distress Oxide ink Vintage Photo
- Memento inks: Tangelo, Lady Bug
- glue, double-sided adhesive tape, self-adhesive pads, fun foam

Cut out all the pieces we need. Mine are colored with Distress inks.

Cut the same large white frame as the card base. Stamp some stains on it.

Make two holes in the frame, and insert a string. Attach letters on the string.

Fix the frame to the card base with a self-adhesive foam tape or use a fun foam.

Complete the card.

And for the youngest, something sweet. Pillow boxes with chocolate eggs.

I would like to remind you that the new Rise & Shine release is still available for 25 % less.

Thank you for coming over. Have a nice day.

Sunflowers

Hi, Janja here!

Tuesday is already here and my time for post on the Scrapping Cottage blog.
Beautiful sunflower heads are proudly displaying their beauty and invite our eyes to admire. This inflorescence composed of hundreds or thousands of tiny flowers simply deserve our admiration.

Today on a thank you card.

Supplies:
- CottageCutz dies: Thanks Phrase, Sunflowers, Wheat Stalks, Pilow Box Plus (ladybug)
- white card base: 5.3 x 5.3" (13,5 x 13,5 cm), folded
- kraft cardstock: 5 x 5" (12,7 x 12,7 cm)
- watercolor paper
- Distress oxide pads: Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Vintage Photo
- Distress ink pads: Wild Honey, Vintage Photo, Twisted Citron
- ColorBox pigment ink pad Frost White
- stamp with handwriting for background
- glue

From watercolor paper cut out elements for sunflowers. Color them with Distress oxide pads. Sprinkle with water and shape with a flower shaping tool.

Cut out Thanks phrase, some wheat stalks and ladybug.
Trim kraft cardstock. Stamp on it handwriting with a white pigment ink pad. Nothing serious if we cannot evenly cover the entire background as the focus is on sunflowers.

Use only the sunflower leaves. Cut off the stems with scissors. Glue each flower separately on the background and arrange them with leaves and wheat stalks.
Finally glue Thanks phrase and attach a ladybug for luck on it.

Happy Spring

Hi, Janja here!

Winter has not said its last word, but the sun is already showing its charm.
Today I share with you two cards with the spring flowers.

Supplies:
- CottageCutz set of stamps and dies: Daffodil Flower - March, Daisies Fower - April, Calendar Months, Pillow Box Plus (ladybugs), Fancy Pocket Plus (button), Stitched Square Set, Stitched Wide Square Frame Set,  Stitched Wide Rectangle Frame Set
- white and kraft card base: 5.3 x 5.3" (13,5 x 13,5 cm), folded
- patterned paper: 4.9 x 4.9" (12,5 x 12,5 cm)
- white cardstock: 4.3 x 4.3" (11 x 11 cm)
- patterned paper: 4.8 x 2.2" (12,1 x 5,6 cm)
- white and colored cardstock
- watercolor paper
- Distress ink: Antique Linen, Mustard Seed, Scattered Straw, Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge, Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Twisted Citron, Mowed Lawn, Peeled Paint
- Memento ink: Desert Sand
- liquid pearls: buttercup
- string

Stamp flowers on watercolor paper and color them. Mine are colored with Distress inks.

When coloring is completed, shadow both backgrounds with Antique Linen Distress ink and stamp partly old letter writing.

Cut out the part of frame with a die. Color it with Distress inks.

Cut out March sign with calendar months die. Also, cut out a square frame from kraft cardstock, and another square of white cardstock.

Start by assembling the card. Add a white square on the card front. On the remainding card base add small buttercup dots.

Fix frame and tape, which is cut with scissors to the half.

When the card is completed, it seemed to me that something is missing. I added a button and a bow.

For another card I used a patterned paper.

Add a sentiment and cut out two ladybugs.

That's all for today. Thank you for coming over.
