To My Love

Hi, Janja here!

This is my first post in the new year. Let's start with love.
I prepared two Valentines cards, and combined on them several dies from various releases.

Supplies:
- CottageCutz dies: Baby Dolls, Baby Doll Girl Clothes, Love Postage, Love Bow & Arrow, English Rose Corner, Square Set, Nested Stitched Scallop Square Set
- red card base: 4.25 x 5.5" (10,7 x 13,9 cm)
- white scalloped edge card base: 5 x 5" (12,7 x 12,7 cm)
- white card stock: 3.74 x 5" (9,5 x 12,6 cm)
- red card stock: 4 x 4" (10 x 10 cm)
- wite and colored card stock
- self adhesive pads, double-sided adhesive tape
- Distress ink pad - Tattered Rose
- Memento ink pad - London Fog

Prepare a red card base, and stamp an inscription on a white card stock.

Cut the word love and a couple of hearts.

With two dies cut all the pieces we need to form a girl. Use socks for the shoes, and shorten them with scissors.
When assembling, slightly change the position of arms and legs.

Spray gray dots on a white card stock, and fasten a girl with self-adhesive pads. For more depth, add a gray color with a makeup brush. These brushes are very useful for such things, especially if the subject is slightly raised from the substrate.

Completed card.

The second card is made with English Rose Corner die. Cut three times. On the backside of a white piece attach adhesive tape, and insert an individual pieces.

From a white card stock cut a square and a frame with the largest die from both sets. Add an inscription.

Complete the card.

Enjoy and have fun while creating.

Love in the Mail

It's Jeanne posting another Valentine today using the Love Postage die.  I just love this die; it's one of my favorites!
To begin, I used a white A2 card base (8 1/2 x 5 1/2 scored and folded at the 4 1/4 inch mark.)
I cut six red stamps and five "love" words from white card stock and one from black card stock.  I saved the little white hearts from the center of the word.

This card is pretty straightforward but did require some math (which I did for you) and some measuring.  I wanted the stamps to all line up and have an equal border.  Each stamp is 1 1/2 inches so I could make my borders around the edges and in between 1/4 inch.  My white panel for the top of  the card measures 5 1/2 x 3 3/4 inches.
Look closely and you will see the pencils lines.  I lightly marked guidelines 1/4 inch on each side and then 2 inches up from the bottom. (1/4 + 1 1/2 + 1/4)
I lined up the stamp bases on the top and bottom using the guidelines on the sides.  For the stamps in the middle I used the guideline at the 2 inch mark.  In this way I could get everything to line up with minimal pencil marks.  I then very carefully erased the marks.
Before finishing the stamps and gluing the front panel to the card base, I cut a strip of red card stock 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches and glued it to the right side of the card base.  I also cut two of the heart borders from the Sweet Love Borders die.  I needed two since they are not quite 5 1/2 inches long.  However, they go together seamlessly when glued down.
After gluing the front panel over the card base with strip, I was left with a 1/2 inch strip of red on the side.  I adhered the heart borders to that, bumped them right up to the edge of the front panel and cut off the excess.  For the "Love" word I used my clear ruler as a guideline to glue those 1/4 inch above the edge of each stamp.
For my last stamp I used the black "Love" and a white heart.

Love Mail

Good morning!  It's Jeanne today with a Valentine's card.  Hard to believe that it's just around the corner, and for card makers it is never too early to start making your cards!
For this card I picked the patterned paper first and chose colors based off of it.  I cut an A2 card base from Very Vanilla card stock, a panel for the front that is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches from the paper and a panel from Rose Red card stock using the largest of the Nested Stitched Eyelet Rectangles dies.
I used snail adhesive to glue the eyelet panel to the patterned piece.  I placed it at an angle that I felt was pleasing, then used my paper trimmer to cut the overage.

Very easy to do.  I have also done this with scissors if the amount of paper hanging off the sides is small.  However, I'm not that good with keeping the cut perfectly straight so I find the paper trimmer works best for me.
I cut the mail box and letters from Love Letters and the postmark and stamp from Love Postage using various colors that matched my patterned paper.
I played around with placement before gluing down.  I did cut off the branches from the mailbox post and added another letter and some small hearts (not shown in this photo).  One thing I love about the Love Postage dies, I now have a reverse color of the postmark and the stamp to use on another card.  When you cut them out of two different colors you will get two of each piece.  I'm planning to make a reverse version of this card with a red mailbox and blue background!

Love Postage + Sketch

Hello Scrapping Cottage friends! Thanks for taking the time to stop and visit today. It's Mary Marsh here bringing you the Saturday edition of the Blog.

We have some fabulous new stamp & die combo sets released and they are available at 25% off in the online store. The new sets include Chloe & Ben Adventures, Birthday Flowers (A flower for each month of the year) and Spring 2017 that not only includes spring dies but Easter themed as well. The Design team will be showing projects with these stamps and dies soon.

For today though, I have a Valentine card for your viewing pleasure. This one is made with the Sweet Valentine stamp and die set and the Love Postage dies. So let's get started with some details on how I created my card.
I started my card by using this weeks sketch #629 from Splitcoaststampers. Using a sketch most always is a good starting point for me. When I saw the square blocks in this one I thought the love postage dies would work perfectly.

Black Card Base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Red CardstockLayer: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Patterned Paper Layer: 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"

Once I chose my card colors, I decided to use this red patterned paper because it has the same dotted lines and hearts as on the bear in the envelope. And for the wavy border on the sketch I am using red ribbon. After the picture was taken, I added the licorice twine.

My next step was to stamp my bear image. I stamped multiples just in case I wasn't happy with how  I colored him. I used both Prismacolor pencils and Copic markers for my coloring. This "Sweet Valentine" stamp set also has matching dies. I also cut the Love Postage images.

Finished the assembly of my card. Once it was done, I thought the ribbon and twine needed something so I added a bow. I used my bow-easy tool. The name does just what it says- makes bow tying really easy.
Here is a close -up photos of the dies and bear image.

Well, that's my card for this post. I hope I have given you some additional ideas for these new Valentine dies. See you next week!

Valentines, Part 1

Hi, Janja here!

I wish you all a happy new year full of joy, and creativity.

In the next three posts, I'll share with you a few simple cards created by new CottageCutz dies - Valentines. These dies will be available in store in the next few days.
Motives that are cut out with these dies are very cute, and they speak for themselves.
Let us show someone that we love. Such small attentions are never too much.
To warm up a little, today I will show you two cards from Valentine's series, that I have created.

Supplies:
- white card base: 4.1 x 5.4" (10,5 x 13,7 cm), folded
- patterned paper: 3.7 x 5" (9,5 x 12,7 cm)
- white and colored cardstock
- Distress ink: Worn Lipstick, Antique Linen, Tea Dye, Hickory Smoke
- glue
- double-sided adhesive tape
- adhesive foam pads

Prepare two card bases from white cardstock for both cards. On one card base cut out corners with corner punch. Trim patterned papers, and cut out with dies all the elements that will be placed on cards.

CottageCutz dies: typewriter, love postage, sweet love borders.

Assemble the card as on photo.

CottageCutz dies: telephone, love hearts, rounded square set (7th die from the middle of a set), rounded rectangle set (the largest die from the set).

Cut out polaroid photo frame.

Completed card.

Thank you for coming over and have a nice day.
