Boo Card With Halloween Die Cuts

Happy Tuesday crafty friends,

I hope your day is off to a great start! Today I am sharing a cute little Halloween themed card featuring some fun Cottage Cutz dies. Take a look....
It is a top folding A4 card. I started with a white cardstock base. To that, I added some fun green with micro dots patterned paper.

I started by cutting all my pieces out in plain white cardstock. I then set about to coloring my various pieces with my markers. It is one of my favorite things to do.

I added some of the fun spider webs to the bottom of the card and then used my stitched alphabet die to cut out the letters for BOO and used some foam tape to adhere them and give them a little lift.

This shows me adding some glitter to the cute little spiders. I also added some glitter to the bow on the tree vase.

Here's a closer look at the cute little witchy ghost on the whacky stitched square mat. I used some foam tape to give her a little lift.

Here is one last look at my completed card. I hope it inspires you to try different, non-traditional Halloween colors.

Witching You A Happy Halloween

Hey Krafty Friends, Jen from Katahdin Krafts, back with another  CottageCutz YouTube  video on the CottageCutz Channel This week I'm using two of the designs from the latest "Halloween" release.  Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year, so I was really excited to work with these dies.

My card features the "Cute Witchy" die, along with the "Halloween Chair."  I had so much fun coloring this adorable witch and planning out her little outfit.

You can find my tutorial with all the details over on the YouTube Channel!

While over on the channel, make sure you like and comment for a chance to win the "Cute Witchy" die!

The winner of the "Jolly Santa Gnome" from my last video is Annette Hatcher, you can find all the details over on YouTube!  Thanks for stopping in, and happy krafting!

Halloween Treat Box and Card Set

Happy TuesDIE Cottage Cutz Friends!
Melinda here with you on this terrific Tuesday. Today I am sharing a fun and very easy card I created featuring dies that are part of the new Halloween Release.

Here's a look at my card and treat box.

Here's a look at the card. It is a standard A4 Top Folding card. I started with a black cardstock base. I then adhered a purple mat and a yellow mat. I used the Spooky Kitties die to create the adorable kitties. The die includes the pumpkin, the bottle and the broom. I added a Web to the background. I mounted them onto a pierced circle and then mounted all of that onto a scalloped circle.

For the background I added a couple of cut webs for the top corners and then I added

Here's a look at just the box. It was made to fit 5 little mini candy treats like the kind you get in the bulk bags. The little mini milky ways is what I used.

To create the box
For the base you start with 4.25 x 8.5
To create the box you need to score it along the 4.25 side at 1.25, 2, 3.25 and 4
for the 8.5 width you need to score it at .5 and 1.25 on each end.
Then you will need to cut it on both sides where I have the "X's"

Here's a picture of what it looks like when you cut it on both ends.
Then you apply adhesive to the .25 piece and fold up to create the body of the box.

This is what it will look like when you have glued the two long ends together.
Then all you have to do is close the ends.

Here's a look at my black box and the mats. For the mats I just cut them an 1/8 of an inch smaller than the box sides. You will cut two at 1.125" x 5.825" and the other two are .625 x 5.825

Not pictured above is the little mat for the top of both flaps. You will need to cut two at 1.1/8 x 6.25
Of course the mats can be whatever size you like depending on how thick you want the borders to be.

Here's what the flaps on both ends will look like.

After I completed the body of the box, I used the cute Jack O Lantern Witch to create the cute little pumpkin lady. I added a little gathered tool to create a sort of tutu skirt for her. I then added some legs and decorated her. I mounted her onto a pierced circle mat cut from some cute yellow diagonal plaid patterned paper and then all of that onto a purple circle pierced mat and all of that onto another scalloped circle. I did this to kind of match the look of my card.

I then added the kitty, the tiny spider and web to the top. I added glitter and white gel pen lines to give it all a little extra decorative touch,

Here is one last look at both projects

Don't forget to head over to the CottageCutz YouTube channel and check out all of the amazing projects on there. Our video team is doing a wonderful job of filling the channel with all sorts of creative content! You don't want to miss it!

Spooky Halloween Orb

Happy Wednesday CottageCutz fans! It's Janet from SugarShine Designs. Today I'm presenting my final CottageCutz Halloween project of the season. In today’s video, I will show you how I used a die set that is part of the Christmas release along with two of the new Halloween dies to create a spooky glowing orb card. I know it’s getting close to Halloween but it’s still not too late to get new dies in time to make some great cards before Halloween arrives.

Before I describe more about today’s project, I want to share exciting news with all of you. The Scrapping Cottage is sponsoring a VIDEO BLOG HOP on October 27th and 28th. It will feature several of the new holiday dies. Many prizes will be given away from the video artists and Scrapping Cottage is providing the Grand Prize! More information will be coming in a future post so keep an eye out for it.

So back to today’s card! My inspiration is the orb that the Wicked Witch used in the classic Wizard of Oz movie with Judy Garland. I wanted to create an orb that looked like something was inside it and I wanted it to appear to glow from within. Unfortunately, I didn't have any flying monkeys or poppy fields available for my orb but that didn't deter me!

I used the base and bow of the new Snowglobe with Fawn die but used the Stitched Circle Set to build a thick frame out of several cardstock layers and an acetate layer under which the Ghost House resides. Then I used the Halloween Phrase & More die for the sentiment. I also used the witch’s hat and the Jack O’ Lantern from the phrase set as additional props for the card. Click on the video thumbnail and learn more about how this card was put together.

Well, thanks for stopping in to have a look at today’s project. I consider it a privilege to be part of the Scrapping Cottage family which includes the most important people – you! Have a great week!

Happy Haunted Halloween!

Happy Wednesday CottageCutz friends! It's Janet and I'm here today to show you a card I made in honor of my second most favorite holiday, Halloween!

CottageCutz has gotten another outstanding new collection of Halloween dies ready just in time for all your creative naughtiness. Fortunately no candy is ever harmed in the making of our fun Halloween projects. Well, no candy that survives to tell the tale anyway!

Today's card features a super versatile set of Halloween phrases called Halloween Phrase & More. It's "more" because in addition to four cute phrases, there are also four icons that could be used on your planners, tags and just about anything your tell-tale heart desires. The spooky haunted house is also new and it's called Ghost House. I love working with the CottageCutz silhouette-style dies like this one. With one pass and a single color of card stock, you are ready to start creating your project. They also work great when you want to use a patterned background because they always enhance your scene without adding a lot of colors to compete for your eye's attention.

I had so much fun creating this project for you. Click on the video thumbnail below to learn how you can make your own or inspire you to put your twist on it.
Please note that the store is currently on hold while their warehouse is in the process of being moved to larger digs to serve you better. Today's dies will be available when the store opens again on September 20th. But don't get scared. The store will be back in a frog's leap. Until then, jot down your wish list items and stop by again to place your order.

I hope you finish out the week strong and don't forget to check back every day for some more fall ideas. It's guaranteed to be a scary good time!

Hugs,
Janet
